The Hillsdale Mayor and Council have declared
Saturday, April 26
as Hillsdale’s town-wide cleanup day. The town-wide cleanup will take place from
10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in selected areas throughout the town.
This cleanup is being organized by the Environmental Commission and is being run with the assistance of Girl Scout Junior Group # 189 from George White School and the involvement of other Hillsdale organizations such as the Girl and Boy Cub Scout groups. All residents are invited to participate, as are business owners within the town.
Our cleanup day will be part of a larger effort to help clean the Hackensack River Watershed during the 2nd annual Bi-State Cleanup Day hosted by the Park Ridge Green Team. For the second year, neighboring towns along the Hackensack River Watershed in NY and Jersey will connect for a common cause, to do our part to clean and preserve the health of our watershed.
Volunteers are asked to meet in Veteran’s Park in the center of town. Areas to be cleaned will be assigned and supplies will be provided. All collected garbage will be divided into recyclable and non-recyclable items. Gloves, long sleeves, long pants and appropriate footwear are recommended. Adult supervision is required for participation of those under 16 years of age.
Pre-registration via email is appreciated. All volunteers are invited to partake in a pizza lunch back at Veteran’s Park at the end of the cleanup between 1:30-2:00pm.
Students who participate will receive Community Service hours. Necessary paperwork and signatures will be provided.
